Parent Link celebrates 10 years
For 10 years, Parent Link has been offering parents in Grande Prairie programs that are mostly free of charge as the centre receives funding via the provincial government.
“It’s an opportunity for people to just come and be parents and it doesn’t matter whether you have lots of money or you don’t have lots of money,” said Jones.
Most of the programming offered is directed at parenting from birth to age six.
“The one thing that makes Parent Link stand aside from a lot of other programs is all of our programs are parented, so parents and children always come together,” said Jones.
The centre also offers parents extensive parenting resources and a toy lending library.
“We have programs for brand new moms with new babies, we have programming that may enhance language and literacy, we have programs that are more specific to gross motor activities, or learning about science and math and pre-math skills, and that kind of thing,” said Jones.
