Inclusive Child Care Program

Building the confidence and capacity to include every child in quality early learning.

About The Program

The Provincial Inclusive Child Care (ICC) Program is a province-wide initiative that supports licensed early learning and child care (ELCC) programs and approved family day homes across Alberta.

The program is designed to empower educators and programs to build the skills, confidence, and capacity needed to provide inclusive, high-quality care for all children, including those with extra support needs.

Through evidence-based practices, tailored coaching, and hands-on professional learning, ICC helps educators create environments where every child can meaningfully participate and thrive within their everyday early learning setting.

Funded by the Government of Alberta, the ICC Program ensures that inclusive supports are accessible and equitable for eligible programs throughout the province.

Who is this program for?

  • Licensed child care programs, out-of-school-care programs and family day home agencies in Alberta who wish to strengthen inclusive practices.
  • Educators, directors and leadership teams committed to supporting children with diverse needs and fostering inclusive environments.

Focus Areas

The ICC Program provides a range of short-term, intensive supports that build the capacity of early learning programs to deliver inclusive care. These include:

  • On-site consultation and observation by ICC coaches using evidence-informed practices.
  • Customized support plans with goals designed to strengthen inclusive environments.
  • Professional development opportunities in areas such as trauma-informed care, child development, and inclusive practice.
  • Information and referrals to community and provincial support systems for children and families.

Centre Details

The ICC Program operates province-wide and is available to all eligible licensed ELCC programs and family day homes. Supports are provided through regional ICC coaches who work directly with program staff and leadership.
